Happy Birthday Kanye West!

Rapper Kanye West was born when the sun was in Gemini and is a well respected, sought-after producer. His own recordings, which include ”Jesus Walks”, “Stronger”, and “Good Life” have won dozens of awards and the albums winning multi-platinum. His music is loved by the multitudes, but he may still be better known for what he has to say. His Sun is close to, or conjunct Jupiter, planet of inspiration and expansion – also in Gemini. Gemini deals with words and speech. Words are the heart of rap and hip hop; the genre wouldn’t exist without them. West’s music and words have inspired many people; they’ve won him high honors and critical acclaim. That being said, the expansive qualities of Jupiter have also led him to overdo his verbal gifts, alienating fellow performers and fans alike.
Venus and Mars are right next to each other in Mr. West’s chart, forming a close conjunction in Taurus. Taurus rules the throat and voice, and the conjunction of Venus and Mars is very creative, making his voice a clear vehicle for his message. This conjunction makes an opposition to Uranus. Uranus is unpredictable, often rebellious, and tends to stand out in a crowd. This mix of planetary energies can make one prone to surprise outbursts and some pretty outrageous behavior. When he grabbed the microphone from Taylor Swift at the 2009 VMA Awards, West showed millions of people how this aspect can play out!
This Venus/Mars conjunction is also opposite to Neptune, planet of mystery, secrets, and glamour. This combination brings on strong powers of persuasion, and an ability to really turn on the charm. It also describes a personality that is hard to pin down. When daredevil Evel Knievel filed suit against West for trademark infringement and damage to his public image, West paid him a visit. Whatever took place at that meeting, Mr. Knievel reportedly found him “quite the gentleman” and they settled, amicably. It would seem that Kanye West is almost as good at smoothing feathers, as he is at ruffling them! Music, messages, and controversy aside, there’s probably more to this Gemini than we may ever see.
