Happy Birthday Charlize Theron!

South African born Charlize Theron is a lady with three planets in Leo which makes for good theatrics. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2004 for the movie “Monster” which is about a serial killer. With Mercury, planet of communication squaring Mars, planet of aggression, the way she delivered her lines may not have been too much of a stretch. People with this aspect are quick to anger and never hesitant to express their strong opinions and can easily frighten others away with their extreme expression.
She also has Venus, planet of love and art, in analytical Virgo. This is a difficult placement; one is sensitized and sometimes exposed to the grittier aspects of relationships. Many with this placement adopt a gruff exterior to protect themselves. Venus makes a challenging square aspect to ethereal Neptune in Sagittarius. The energies of Neptune make one’s personality hard to pigeonhole; the square from Venus makes her prone to illusions in love, but able to create worlds of imagination. Acting is one of the best possible outlets for this aspect. Ms. Theron’s ability to inhabit a character as difficult and complex as serial killer Aileen Wuornos speaks well for this aspect.
At the age of 15, she witnessed her mother shooting and killing her alcoholic father in self-defense. No charges were pressed and a year later Charlize went to Milan to begin her career in modelling. When I look at her chart for this period it seems the incident between her parents ended up being a good thing for her career with transiting Neptune and Pluto forming positive aspects to her natal planets.
With a successful career in the bag, Ms. Theron has put a great deal of time and energy into championing the underdog. Active in the Women’s movement and a member of PETA, she also formed Charlize Theron’s Africa Outreach Project, to aid disadvantaged people in her native South Africa. Her outgoing Leo Sun makes a harmonious trine to – again – Neptune. This makes her very compassionate, and suggests that helping others is a key element in her life. One in need could only hope to have this fierce Leo lady in their corner.
