Forecast for week of May 7-13, 2012
By Kathy Biehl
“Third gear…hang on tight….faster; it’s alright.” — Brian Wilson & Mike Love, Little Honda
We are moving now. The route may change Friday, but otherwise, this week it’s all systems go.
Can you hear the cheering? Maybe you’re cheering, too. So much has been on the brink of happening lately but just not kicking in yet. The past few weeks have had a pace that defied hurrying and required more down time than some of us consciously wanted. That pace will quickly be the stuff of distant, wistful memory.
This week brings one shift in energetic mode and a few significant aspects. (And no day-long void of course Moons!) Mercury is leaving the impulsiveness and drive of Aries for the stability, grounding and practicality of Taurus. He does this during the predawn hours Wednesday and turns mental activity from boldness to the careful and concrete.
Even though Taurus is a sign that takes its time, Mercury quickly moves toward free-flowing trines with Mars (exact on Sunday) and Pluto (exact next week). His course creates another recurrence of the grand earth trine that has been with us off and on since mid-March. Aspects of your life have been locking together into a compact but fertile garden, a sturdy foundation that supports your existence and future growth. With the planet of communication and transportation entering that picture, thoughts, conversations and messages are coming to solidify that platform further.
At a minimum, you’re wrapping your brain around the existence and nature of this foundation. News is likely to come in stabilizing and fine-tuning it, too. You may hear of or discuss tangible resources (money and more). More workable or efficient technology may be involved. So might short trips, changes in your commute or usual means of transportation, and reading up on a topic with practical or financial application. If you have been wanting certain information, or a more practical phone, computer or car, go after it now.
Adding to the lively conversation is Venus hitting the degree of her retrograde on Thursday. She’s in Mercury’s sign of Gemini, which encourages freewheeling connecting, no strings attached, the more, the merrier — and lots of company on this stretch of the journey. She likes her options open and, while she’s willing to talk, don’t expect deep and abiding commitment from her in this sign. Her retrograde (from May 15-June 27) will be full of talk going over old territory and times, not to mention exploring other options. It will draw people out of the woodwork like crazy, some of whom you will not have thought about in forever. Watch for them to start surfacing by the weekend. They could be reminders that there are other fish in the sea, or of how much you’ve changed, or that you carry around some unhelpful thoughts and attitudes about relationships.
You do have a definite invitation to get over lingering wounds, with Chiron making an opportunity aspect to Pluto. Their link encourages looking at (and getting past) those times when you took the fall for others, or soaked up their pain, or damaged yourself because of a relationship. Ongoing, abiding issues are ripe for transformation into something that waters and nurtures the garden that the grand earth trine has been creating for you.
If by some wild chance you are not able to see the garden around you, pay attention to what unfolds this weekend. Personal harvest, enjoyment and satisfaction are on the schedule from the Sun meeting’s with Jupiter on Sunday. (We get a preview on Wednesday when they make a similar contact by declination.) What’s been building and solidifying since last June now becomes real on a very personal level. There’s not merely reason for hope and optimism, but also cause for celebration. It’s time to enjoy all the sensual, physical delights of existence.

Monday: And we’re off! The morning is high energy, and being just a bit ticked off gets us all going. We’re ready for movement, for a change of pace, for intense and meaningful developments, please. Which are delivered. When communication hits a rough patch, beware blaming the other side. Everyone’s game for shaking up the status quo, an urge that grows stronger and stronger with the darkening sky. Risks are appealing. Look at them this way: You’re not stuck; they’re part of moving ahead. If you’ve been feeling stuck or stymied, ask for a dream that reveals the path out.
Tuesday: If you’re a night owl, today’s predawn hours are not the time to be on the streets or operating heavy machine; one moment of risk-taking or wandering attention and unforeseeable consequences result. For those of us who are sleeping, the same influence translates into restlessness and an inner choice to break out of a rut. Follow that choice when you wake (or your impulses, if you don’t consciously know what you decided). The day combines sociability with productivity and stability. Reach out to as many people as you feel the urge (likely to be lots). Doors open to conversations.
Wednesday: Mercury enters Taurus not long after midnight EDT and launches a whirlwind two-week tour of the sign. All the concrete, practical information coming in and out of our heads has a reassuring, even happy-making impact. Spirits run high today. It’s easy to spot silver linings, see events and people in their best light, and view the glass as not merely half-full, but overflowing. Look for evidence of how the stabilizing developments in your life are personally benefitting you. There’s no time to sit and enjoy, though. All the good feelings trigger changes of plans and, above all, action, which carry you into a significant investment of energy and attention. In other words: this is a happily nose-to-the-grindstone day. Immerse yourself.
Thursday: Schedule meetings, events, conversations and pushes forward on your to-do list for the morning. Mind and motivation are fused; follow-through is prompt. As soon as you think or hear a concept or information, you’re on it, all because Mercury and Mars are lining up on the ecliptic. Stop when you feel the mood shift mid-afternoon into quiet, contemplative and somber. The Moon pushes off taskmaster Saturn to go void of course for the rest of the day (3:12 PM to 1:04 AM EDT). Downloads of guidance and inspiration are possible at a new, yea even magical level. Still yourself enough to receive them.
Friday: The morning may feel like a waking dream. The sensation continues of having an open conduit to otherworldly input. The difference today is wondering whether you’re hearing something that is too good to be true, or craziness, or an outright lie. Check your gut; ask your guidance; get a second opinion. Be open to a course correction mid-day. A disruption or alternative route or an unexpected, schedule-upending offer is coming. Whether you take it or not, you’ll quickly hit a crossroad that requires a choice or adjustment in how you’re spending your time and energy. Go for the option that is healthier for you. That’s the offer of the day’s opportunity aspect between Chiron, who embodies the challenge of sinking fully into human, physical existence, and Pluto, who transforms at the deepest levels. Always putting other people first? Fixing and clucking and tending to them and letting your own needs wither? Not today you won’t. Promise?
Saturday: The morning is high energy and more than a bit nervous. Launching it are lightning bolts (or firecrackers) that go off before dawn and before our re-entry into the waking world. Take a moment to calm and focus before you start running around, so the power surges have a chance of translating into productive and desired action instead of annoyance and argument. Interactions stabilize in the evening…up to a point. The later you stay awake, the more the air buzzes. That’s because more lightning bolts are scheduled to land in the midnight hour (EDT), this time delivering strokes of brilliance. If you manage to turn in before they arrive, put writing materials or a digital recorder by the bedside, so you stand a chance of capturing the flashes.
Sunday: Day of rest? Nope. More like a day of action. And play. Moods are high and happy. Delights for all of the senses abound. Embrace and enjoy them. Instead of luring you into lounging around, they will propel you into conversations and activity. Walking your talk comes easily this afternoon, as does taking an idea and turning it into reality. Make a point to slow and wind down in the evening; otherwise your mind and mouth could get stuck in overdrive, with prickly consequences.
