Jupiter Moves Into Gemini

Forecast for week of June 10-17, 2012

By Kathy Biehl

This week the winds of change grow bigger and, in some ways, better. (“What??? More???” I hear some of you gasping. Yes. More. Keep breathing.) They’re expanding on what we’ve already been experiencing. The philosophical rebooting we’re undergoing is getting a huge assist as larger-than-life Jupiter moves into the air sign of Gemini for a one-year stay.

Jupiter is the devil-may-care big guy who ups the ante of any action he’s in. For the past year he’s been playing gardener in the Taurus area of our charts, where he’s poked around, applied Miracle-Gro and set a nice rolling harvest in motion. He’s shifting now to whipping up all things Gemini: the flow of communication, data and information; the speed of our minds and the input coming at us; a proliferation of innovative gadgets and technology; multi-tasking; short attention spans;’ the urge to talk, share, learn, read, dart from subject to subject and place to place…

Makes your head spin just reading about it, doesn’t it? The first days could be like a gust of wind blowing papers off your desk — only instead of turning into clutter, they fall into patterns that turn out to be neat and beneficial. The instant Jupiter takes off in Gemini (which is Monday), he activates the degree of May 20th’s New Moon solar eclipse. Whatever you’ve sensed the possibilities of that eclipse to be, they are swelling into grander contours now.

Haven’t though in terms of the eclipse? What new directions or horizons have you been sensing opening up? (Perhaps inside you, if nothing external comes to mind?) Those are expanding and expanding now.

Think big, then think even bigger. Information will be flying; trust that helpful data is coming your way. Themes and issues are coming back around from mid-2000 to mid-2001, when Jupiter was last in this sign. Think about what expanded then (good and bad) and what big themes shaped your life, and you have a preview of what’s blowing in over the next year.

Much of the communication and data flow will have an emotional content — or impact. Gemini’s ruler Mercury is in the sign of Cancer, where he touched down last week. He has a way there of tugging at heartstrings, of bringing tears to eyes in response to a video, a song on the car radio, or even a commercial. (Who remembers Kodak’s campaign using Malvina Reynolds’ song “Turn Around?”) So the processing won’t be purely intellectual. You may be surprised what touches you — and what people choose to take personally.

Grounding continues to important. You don’t want to get lifted off into the sky yourself. (Or maybe you do; who am I to presuppose?) In this atmosphere, focusing and staying on track will require concerted effort, and planting your feet on solid ground. Jupiter is moving into a hard aspect with Neptune that will increase and thicken the fog, confusion and illusion coming off the god of transcendence. Ask for guidance and miracles, and they will surely rain down upon you. Spin doctors will be in overdrive as we glide into next week, though, so … just keep putting your feet back on the ground.

Fortunately, this week affords time for breathing, assimilation and reflection. Long void of course moons are back in the picture for the time being. (Want a refresher on the meaning of a void of course moon? Click here.) The void times are all day Monday, Thursday morning and all day Saturday. These are stretches for kicking back and letting life play out, for being more inner-directed than outcome-oriented, for sitting still and quietly long enough for the ruckus in your head to settle down. There’s certainly plenty of fodder to contemplate from the last few weeks. There’s no need to actively sort and analyze. Simply be and insights can come to you.

Monday: The first waking hours of the week signal that it’s going to play out differently than the last one. After a night of tossing and turning, the Moon goes void of course at 6:42 AM EDT, until after midnight EDT tomorrow. Pool rules are in effect all day long: no pushing, no shoving. Ease into the day; let its course reveal itself instead of fighting for for any particular immediate developments. Jupiter begins his year in Gemini, while that sign’s ruler Mercury is in a stand-off with the seat of deep, hidden power that is Pluto. A theme is set of deeply entrenched, opposing points of view, with no inclination to compromise or look for common ground. Backroom machinations could leak into the news today; watch for a growing sense/awareness over the next year of information being shaped or controlled by unseen or cloaked power sources. Paranoia runs high in this type of environment…and might not be as crackpot as we often think. Don’t believe everything you’re told. Do your own research. Draw your own conclusions. Now back to today: Second winds erupt as the time for winding down approaches. With the Moon entering high-energy Aries and Jupiter fanning that fire, the late hours are restless and revitalizing. It may help to give in and get the impulses out of your system.

Tuesday: There’s lots of incentive to get moving today, starting with the motivation that kept building within you overnight. “Shoulds” give you something to push off from in the morning. The afternoon brings a sudden change of plans or heart (possibly both), then a powerful shove. If you shove back, you may end up stuck to a tar baby. Conversations turn aggressive in the evening, energy you can transmute into rocket fuel for your own mental processes. There is an opening for actually working things out, though. Just after 11 PM EDT doorways open to connecting. If you can’t have a conversation with someone, send your word out somehow — by text, email, phone message (does anyone still use a phone for a phone?), by simply pressing it into your heart.

Wednesday: Calm and stability are within reach. In fact, they’re both probabilities. All the recent mental and emotional squirming is giving way to a new solidity at your core. Confidence isn’t a front you adopt; it’s an unshakability that emanates from knowing and committing to yourself. Proceeding from that base changes the quality of your communication and relationships. All are evolving. Hearts and minds are working together in a new and improved way. Watch how easily you express and receive heart-felt messages today, and how your interactions flow as a result.

Thursday: Today has a time-out feel to it. With the long-term astrological influences as relentless and insistent as they are, I say take a break when it’s offered. Go with the flow in the morning; the Moon is void of course until almost 12:30 PM EDT. After that, self-indulgence is in the air, with nothing to argue against it or urge us to get back to work. That notion isn’t on the agenda until after midnight, and then so subtly you could sleep through it.

Friday: The early morning hours are extremely active. Energies prod us toward breaking out of old, limiting perspectives and approaches, getting focused on what we truly, madly, deeply want and bolding embracing our personal power. Having that in the back of your mind prompts a growth spurt in important dealings (social, monetary or both). Conversations are especially meaningful and favored in the evening. Put writing materials by the bedside.

Saturday: Your mind is processing like a maniac for most of the night. Scribble down what you can catch first thing in the morning. How are you looking at your life more optimistically? How has your outlook expanded? The compulsion to get moving launches the day. Since the Moon goes immediately void of course (from 8:09 AM EDT till tomorrow at 1:24 AM), funnel that urge into activities that you’ll eventually redo anyway — straightening up, exercising, tending to your grooming, buying groceries, cleaning the house, taking care of other details that will make your environment feel saner and more supportive. Control issues color the late morning; as always, it’s your choice whether to engage or use them to learn more about and work on yourself. On the whole the day is weighted toward good feelings and welcome interactions, particularly around lunchtime and late in the evening.

Sunday: The predawn hours are incredibly active again, expanding our vision of the possible and delivering uncomfortable messages that push us off dead center. Don’t bank on anything you think or hear in the morning. The cosmic fog machine is at work, which bodes well for contemplation, creativity and connecting to guidance, but is less useful for anything you want to touch or rely on physically. (Weird messages may not be what they seem, either.) Don’t overly attach to the discomfort of reentry as the fog lifts late in the daylight hours. A fun evening is on tap, especially if you revel welcome last-minute offers or changes in plans, stand fast in your power and lead with your heart.
